Birds checklists by places

Aiuruoca (MG)

On August 22nd, 2008 and November, 05 th, 2009, we (Antonio Silveira) have been in technical visit for environmental recognizing, in Matutu Vale, Aiuruoca County, Minas Gerais State, where we spent the day in Patrimônio Region (Patrimônio Lodge), and also obtained the first birding rising for the local.

As its difficult access, because there isn't any road in this place, but just trackings, the regiong of Vale do Matutu is still preserv, with its wood returning to initial state.

Among its rich natural patrimony, there are waterfalls and rich birdfauna, as we could notice while we were there.

So, with these two small visits, we have started a preliminary and cumulative checklist for the local birds, fro giving incentive for the observation tourism, and so, collaborating to the touristic local sustenable development.

The observations have been done with the help of binocles from 8 am to 2 pm, from the Cachoeira do Fundão tracking up to Cachoeira do Meio (3 hours of observations each day), and the rest of the time aroung the Lodge, that is behind the valley. In the two visits we totalized 12 hours of observations.

Matutu Valley has altitudes around 1,000 and 2,000 meters, and our observations have been done in the high of Fundão tracking, which is around 1,400 m high. We used in our observations visual registers and mainly sound ones, and so we could note birds vocalizing higher than we were.

        Geografic coordinates: 22º06’03.33”S   44º39’14.09”O

Up to now we have registered 79 birds' species, which follows
