Werner Bokermann
(In memoriam)
In this page we have a reverence to Werner Carlos Augusto Bokermann,
because of his importance for national and international herpetology, and
also for being our master for some years, showing us the fantastic anurans
world, his passion.
Werner Bokermann was a tireless anurans student by his
own, mainly, contributing in an immeasurable way to zoology, being among
the first students in this area. He has taught many of the big Brazilian
herpetologists, being recognized in all the world. We had the opportunity
of feeling it in the contact that we had with many of these
herpetologists.
Bookermann had
written more than 100 articles about anurans, described 61 species and for
his reverence, there are 13 anurans species that were described with his
name, showing his importance in the Scientific world.
Werner Bokermann was born in 07/04th /1929, in Botucatu, São
Paulo, and has died in 04/01st /1995, in São Paulo, when we had a good
contact, receiving almost weekly his taught.
He was
graduated in Biological Sciences at Faculdade Farias Brito (Guarulhos-
SP), post graduation in Biological Sciences, Doctor in Zoology at the
Bioscience Institute of São Paulo University, becoming principal of the
birds section of São Paulo Zoo, until he has died.
So, nothing
more fair than this reverence to a great scientist, teacher and friend.

interested people knowing his fabulous work.
